The centre for community excellent (CENCEX) and human rights agenda network, Zamfara state branch has atributed the insecurity infact as a terrain that involved internal displacement of communities in the state and some states in the Northwest.
The executive director Adamu Abubakar Kotorkoshi made the clarification at a press conference in Gusau Tuesday, to mark seven national day of mourning and remembrance of victims of mass atrocities in Zamfara state.
He lamented that, the criminals activities perpetuated by the armed bandits in Zamfara state heightened the vulnerability of women and girls in the region.
According to him, the national day of mourning targeted to achieve goals of expressing solidarity with grieving communities in the state and stir conscience of political leaders at national and state to develop political will to protect lives and properties of the people through good governance.
“As citizens, we remind the government at all levels that section 14(1) of the 1999 constitution of federal republic of Nigeria states that the security and welfare of the citizens shall be the primary purpose of government.
He called on federal and state governments to fulfill its constitutional obligation by ensuring security of lives and properties of its citizens and act humanly towards internally displaced persons across the country.
He also urged authorities concerned to investigate, arrest and prosecute all perpetrators of the violence crimes in the state and country at large including those perpetrators during 2023 general elections.
