![Governor Abba Kabir Yusif: A Misunderstanding of Continuity in Governance, HOTPEN](https://hotpen.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/IMG-20240630-WA0041.jpg)
By Dr. Sagir Sadisu Buhari
I am disheartened by Governor Abba Kabir Yusif’s complete rejection of his predecessor’s achievements. Despite my initial belief that Governor Yusif understood the importance of continuity in governance, his recent speech criticizing Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s Signature Projects and completion of other abandoned projects has left me disillusioned.
Governor Yusif’s refusal to acknowledge Dr. Ganduje’s infrastructural achievements not only hinders Kano State’s development but also disregards the efforts and resources invested in these projects. His actions demonstrate a lack of vision and misguided leadership.
Dr. Ganduje’s commitment to implementing numerous signature projects showcases his dedication to the people of Kano State. Some of his notable projects include:
- Dangi Interchange Flyover
- Muhammad Buhari General Hospital
- Isyaku Rabiu Paediatric Hospital
- Prof Hafsat Abdullahi Ganduje Cancer Center
- Sheik Karibulla Sheik Nasiru Kabara Flyover
- Tijjani Hashim Flyover
- Muhammad Buhari Interchange Flyover
- Panshekara Flyover
- Filin Idi/Kantin Kwari Market
- Kantin Kwari Flyover
- Kano Bureau de Change Wapa.
- Aliko Dangote Skill Acquisition Center
- 400 Bed Capacity General Hospitals and Schools in the Five Emirates Council
- Daula Hotel Five Star Hotel/ Shopping Mall
- Dansoshiya Ruga Settlement
- Shahuci Shopping Mall
- Military Training Area Falgore Forest Reserve
- Tiga Hydro Power Plant
- Challawa Gorge Dam Power Plant
- Kano Economic City, Dangwauro among others.
Instead of building upon these achievements, Governor Abba Kabir Yusif has chosen to politicize them.
I urge Governor Abba Kabir Yusif to reconsider his stance and embrace his predecessor’s Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje achievements and progress. The people of Kano State deserve continuity and development, not political vendettas and stagnation. Democracy is about serving humanity and providing good governance.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusif must recognize that governance is a continuum, and progress made by previous administrations should be built upon, not dismantled. The people of Kano State demand development, not bitter politics. Let us work together to build a better Kano State for all.
I implore Governor Abba Kabir Yusif to put aside political differences and prioritize Kano State’s development. The people of Kano State deserve nothing less.
God bless Kano State.
Dr. Sagir Sadisu Buhari FCIA,
Former Director General: Research and Documentation, Directorate, Office of the Executive Governor, Govt House, Kano State.
