Zakat and Sadaqat foundation based in Lagos has disbursed the sum of N1.5 million Naira to 22 selected Orphans and less privileged students in Zamfara state.
The Executive Director of the foundation Sulaiman Olagunju stated this at the Zakat Distribution Ceremony held in Gusau the state capital Wednesday.
According to him, the gesture was aimed at alleviating socioeconomic difficulties among the benefiting students during their study.
He further explained that the program covered 19 states in the North including southern states, adding that the foundation had settled all school fees to twenty two orphans and less privileged students who were drawn from seven selected schools comprising public and Islamiyya schools in Zamfara state.
Olagunju who was represented by the state coordinator of the foundation during the distribution, Mallam Ibrahim Tudu stated that the foundation is willing to support the selected students to further their education at tertiary levels after completing their secondary level.
“The foundation had sponsored all school fees to selected twenty two students to complete their junior and senior secondary education under the program and after successful completion, the foundation will grant scholarship to them to further their education at tertiary levels”. Olagunju stated.
The executive director called on the students to concentrate on their study and shun any form of social irregularities that could damage their reputation during their stewardship in their respective schools.
He disclosed that the gesture will be extended up to tertiary institutions for the benefiting students in the state.
