The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has appointed Mallam Muhammad Lawan Ahmed as the new coordinator to oversee the affairs of the scheme in Zamfara State.
He takes over from Alhaji Abdulsalam Alhassan who has been redeployed to Yobe State Secretariat following a routine posting.
On assumption of duty in Gusau on Wednesday, the new coordinator, appealed for more support and synergy among staff to achieve the scheme’s mandate in the state.
Mallam Lawan promised to run an open door policy, assuring that he will prioritize the welfare of staff and corps members in the state.
“I am committed to hit the ground running by engaging relevant stakeholders to improve on the security, welfare of corps members and staff in order to deepen our contribution to the development of the state”, he said.
The new coordinator described Zamfara State as his second home and thanked the staff for the warm reception accorded him.
Earlier, at a brief handing over ceremony, the outgoing coordinator, Alhaji Abdulsalam Alhassan thanked the Zamfara State government for its support which resulted in the modest achievements recorded during his tenure.
He described the new coordinator as an experienced officer and called on all stakeholders, staff and corps members to give him the needed support to succeed in the tasks ahead.
