The war on Hamas in Gaza peninsula has so far reached its climax in the 21 months old war, with more casualties and collateral damages on each side. The IDF has continued to criminally destroy and maim many civilians – women, sick, old and children are never spared while the United Nations continues to play the role of oblivious umpire.
The much-taunted peace deal was never well brokered by the global body while the Israel hostages and their family members continue to witness abject hardship and uncertainties.
Recently six of the more than 100 hostages being held by Hamas were killed in a mysterious circumstance, while Netanyahu keeps on facing more and severe pressure by the families of the hostages. Netanyahu said Israel will never rest until it catches those responsible for the killing of the six hostages as their bodies were recovered from Hamas captivity in the Gaza strip. Netanyahu has expressed disgust and worries over this development, claiming that, ‘’whoever killed the hostages does not want a deal’’.
A major impasse in the negotiations has been the Philadelphi corridor along Gaza’s border with Egypt and the Netzarim east-west corridor across the territory. Netanyahu has insisted that Israel retain control of the corridors to prevent ‘’smuggling and catch militant fighters’’.
Hamas is demanding the full withdrawal of Israel forces from Gaza.There are reports of a polio outbreak in Gaza, while the authorities plan to vaccinate children in central Gaza until Wednesday next week before moving on to the devastated northern and southern parts of the strip. The campaign began with a small number of vaccinations on Saturday and aims to reach about 640,000 children. Philippe Lazzarani, the commissioner-general of UNWRA, said: ‘’For this work, parties to the conflict must respect the temporary area pauses. For the sake of children across the region a lasting ceasefire is overdue.’’
While raids after raids continue by the IDF on the IDP camps,and many other Hamas strongholds on the West Bank, Jenin and el Far’a camp, were a particular ferocious iteration of a pattern that has repeated itself through the decades with more brutal forces and ceaseless fire rains on the innocent civilians. The IDF has continued to desperately launch attacks on the Gaza strip since the October 10 encounter without much success of dislodging the Hamas fighters in the region, that witnesses renewed strength and commitment of the Hamas fighters with more coordination, renewed strategies and more cooperation.
Yair Lapid, a former prime minister, has called on every Israeli whose heart was broken by the war to come out in mass to protest the unending war that claims lives, destroys properties and clearly destroys the Israeli economy:’ We cannot continue like this, he said’’.
Israel, in its usual stance has held a 10-year old girl as a human shield as it carried out its inhuman and gruesome killings and devastating attacks on the occupied Palestinian territory.
The international community has so far condemned these unholy and ungodly attacks and killings, sending premonitions to Netanyahu that the end of the journey is very near; and the earlier a deal is reached the better for Israel and Netanyahu.
Unverified reports from the US central Command have suggested that its forces have destroyed a Houthi drone and uncrewed surface vessel, which were determined as a ‘’clear and imminent threat to US and coalition forces, and merchants’ vessels in the region’’.
As the US presidential elections campaigns continue to gather momentum, Donald Trump is making some easy sails across the states – sending jitters to Democrats, and its allies across the globe. Trump’s success in the coming elections in November will be a bad omen to Democrats and those close to them.
The war continues to claim lives, properties and time, while the world seems passive in a seemingly conspiratorial stance, with very few states outwardly condemning Israeli aggressive and inhuman attitude that negate all principles and decorum of war; as Hamas keeps on boosting its capacity and skills to effectively checkmate the unsavory dragons of the modern era. It is just a matter of time before the deed is done.
