The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has presented 1,250 of anti-cholera vaccine and sanitary kits to the affected flood victims in Jigawa State.
The Deputy Director Planning, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA), Malam Kamaladdin Ahmad stated this while distributing the materials at Tsakuwawa village in Miga local government area, said, UNICEF supported Jigawa State government with cholera prevention and sanitation kits, which are being distributed to the victims of the flood disaster in the state.
He said: “The kits will only be given to the affected flood victims staying in various Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps across the state.
“Those staying with their relatives, those who have returned home, and those living outside IDP camps will not benefit from this gesture.”
According to him UNICEF presented 750 cartons of cholera prevention kits and 500 hygiene dignity kits to RUWASSA for distribution to the targeted beneficiaries.
The Deputy Director stressed that, already work has commenced in earnest with assigned staff visiting various IDP camps for distribution of the kits to the affected victims of the recent flood in the state.
“Records obtained from the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has indicated that there are IDP camps in 18 local government areas and be rest assured that we will visit the sites and deliver the consignment.” He noted.
Hotpen reports that, each of the kit contains soap, sanitary pads, water treatment materials, and other household sanitation items for environmental and personal hygiene.
