The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Katsina Command has pledged synergy with the Police to reduce rate of road accidents in the state.
The new FRSC Sector Commander, Mr. Aliyu Maaji, made the pledge when he paid a courtesy visit to the state Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, on Friday in Katsina.
He said that the call has become imperative in view of role the police play in the maintenance of law and order in the society.
Maaji said that the era of overloading was over as FRSC planned a joint special patrol with the police and other sister security agencies to apprehend recalcitrant drivers.
The Sector Commander further inform the CP about the existence of a tow truck in the command to be used to convey impounded vehicles to the command.
Responding, CP Abubakar-Musa promise to continue to carry the FRSC along in all activities in the state.
Meanwhile, a similar visit was also paid to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abdullahi Garba-Faskari, and solicited for the continuous support of the state government because road safety is everybody’s business.
Garba-Faskari welcomed the new Sector Commander to the state, and assured him of the administration’s maximum support to all FRSC programmes.
He particularly called on the new Sector Commander to embark on public sensitisation, as a tool of ensuring compliance to traffic rules by motorists in the state.
