The Gombe State Government says it will begin the implementation of the new national minimum wage of N70,000 starting from October.
Mr Mannasah Jatau, Chairman of the Consequential Adjustment and Negotiation Committee for the New National Minimum Wage and the state’s Deputy Governor, disclosed this yesterday during a press briefing following the committee meeting.
The Deputy Governor reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that civil servants in the state will begin receiving the new minimum wage without delay.
He emphasised that all necessary arrangements have been completed to ensure a smooth rollout of payments to all eligible workers from October.
Mr Jatau highlighted the state government’s recognition of the crucial role civil servants play in Gombe State’s development and reaffirmed its dedication to improving their welfare.
He also encouraged the workers to remain committed to their duties, assuring them that their well-being will remain a top priority for the administration.
Mr Jatau extended his appreciation to stakeholders, particularly the labour union, for their cooperation in the successful negotiation and implementation of the new wage structure.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Gombe State Chapter, Mr. Yusuf Bello, expressed optimism about the government’s commitment.
He noted that workers across the state are eagerly awaiting the implementation and thanked the government for its dedication to improving workers’ welfare. Comrade Bello assured that the NLC would continue to support the government in safeguarding workers’ rights.
