The Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB) in collaboration with the Universally to Basic Education Commission (UBEC) had organized a state final of basic education sports competition state football match among secondary schools students in the state where Anka Local Governments defeated Tsafe Local Government with six goals to five.
The game took place at the Zamfara College of arts, science and technology in Gusau playing ground on Saturday.
During the competition, Tsafe Local Government scored one goal before the half-time break, while Anka Local Governments scored one goal after returning from the half-time break.
At the end of the game a penalty was granted between the two local governments players where Tsafe local government scored four goals while Anka beat Tsafe with five goals.
This gave Anka Local Government the opportunity to represent Zamfara State in the forthcoming UBEC national League that will be held in Abuja.
The theme of the game is “Education for All Through Sports”.
Speaking at the end of the competition, the state Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Alh. Wadatau Madawaki congratulated all the players and reaffirmed the state government efforts to ensure those who will represent the state at national level will be in the first position.
Also in his speech, the Chairman of the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board, Prof. Nasiru Anka, assured that his board will do its best to ensure positive representation at the national level.
Prof. Nasiru Anka called on the other secondary schools in the state to redouble training and retraining of their contingents in the field of sports for the development of the state.
