Jigawa state government has approved the sum of N60million for the procurement of additional foods items for onward distribution to the victims of the recent tanker explosion at Majia town in Taura local government.
The state commissioner of information, Hon. Sagir Musa Ahmed disclosed this shortly after the weekly executive council meeting, said the gesture is part of the swift action to support the victims, added that food items to be purchases includes Rice 25kg, Millet 10kg, Maize 10kg and Spaghetti 1Carton for distribution to each of the 210 deceased families including the
families of victims hospitalized at various hospitals within and outside the state.
The commissioner explained that, the families of victims will also be supported with another sum of N200,000.00 each while, the 88 victims hospitalized at various hospitals will also be provided N200,000.00 each for feeding and other expenses.
He said: “This is in addition to the earlier N50,000 and 10kg of rice provided to each of the victims’ families immediately after the incident as well as payment of all medical expenses settled by the Jigawa State Government.”
The Council has also extended its heartfelt appreciation to the Federal Government, 35 states governments, and the numerous individuals and organizations—both within and outside Nigeria— who have offered their condolences and support following the tragic tanker explosion incident in Majia Town, Taura LGA.
Similarly, the Council has acknowledged so far, the pledge of N1,448,000.000 as support extended to the victims and families of the deceased by various individuals and organizations.
