Two prominent chieftains of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State, Abba Anas Adamu and Ali Tukur Gantsa, have reportedly been abducted by suspected kidnappers.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening at Rijana, a notorious flashpoint for kidnapping activities along the Kaduna–Abuja highway.
Sources said the duo were travelling to Abuja to attend a meeting convened by the party when they were intercepted by the abductors.
According to party sources, concerns arose after the victims failed to arrive at the meeting venue as scheduled.
Efforts to reach them through Ali Gantsa’s phone reportedly yielded disturbing responses.
A party stakeholder, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that Gantsa initially answered the call in a subdued voice before one of the suspected abductors allegedly took over the conversation.
“They are with us. We kidnapped them,” the caller reportedly said before switching off the phone.
The source further revealed that the kidnappers have contacted associates of the victims and are demanding a ransom of N200 million for their release.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the party (ADC) nor security agencies issue any official statement on the incident.
