The intervention was carried out under the Small Scale Project Fund of Development Exchange Center with support from Bread for the World. Beneficiaries were selected from Kafin Tafawa and Tsakanin Bayara communities in Bauchi Local Government Area.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony after six months of training, the Executive Director and Founder of the initiative, Dr. Grace Maikudi, said the programme was designed to equip women with practical entrepreneurial skills that would help them become financially independent.
She explained that 10 beneficiaries were trained in tailoring and bag making, while 40 others acquired skills in rice processing and brown powder production to improve their income-generating capacity.
Maikudi further disclosed that two Village Savings and Loans Associations, Aminchi and Nasara, were established to encourage savings and provide access to financial support for members seeking to expand their businesses.
According to her, 10 participants also received sewing machines to enable them establish small-scale businesses.
She assured that the organisation would continue monitoring beneficiaries to ensure effective use of the equipment.
Also speaking, Mrs. Helen Abba, represented by Programme Officer Esther Bala, described the project as impactful and commended participants for their dedication throughout the training.
