The National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA) has distributed 24,302 food baskets to different vulnerable groups in kebbi State.
The Vulnerables include less privileged, widows, petty traders, households, blind people and cripples and unemployed as well as the victims of flood disaster in Shanga and other parts of the state.
Speaking during the presentation of the commodities held at Government stores, the Director General of NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar represented by the Director of Special Duties, Hajiya Fatima Suleiman Kasim revealed that KSrelif has donated 24,302 food baskets for distribution to Vulnerable households in Kebbi, Benue, Anambra, Yobe and, Taraba states.
She further disclosed that Kebbi State received 4, 399 food baskets under the programme for households that had already been profiled, noted that the distribution excercise would be conducted transparently and in accordance with established accountability standards through collaboration between NEMA, Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency ( SEMA) and, trained volunteers.
The DG however advised residents and the shop owners to take measures against flooding as rainy season already intensified.
Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State while flagging off of the disbursement commended King Salman Foundation of Saudi Arabia and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the collaborative gesture.
He urged beneciaries to make proper use of the food items for the benefit of their households and cushion the effect of poverty and hardship as well as disaster recovery.
