The year 2027 is gradually drawing closer, as only some 3 months and a fraction to the general elections, with high expectations from the electorates; while many more in many states are simply reserved.
Their reservations are tied to uncertainties in a number of the candidates fielded by the various political parties. Recall, there are still lingering issues in respect of the primary elections in many states, which raised many more concerns on the end result of the situations.

In Jigawa state the situation is much calm, as the political key stakeholders have used virtues and subtle engagements to forestall any emerging ‘’challenges’’ in view of the primaries conducted. This is more so in the ruling party All progressives’ Congress – APC. From the Peoples’ Democratic Party PDP, to African Democratic Congress ADC, to National Democratic Congress NDC and many other political groups – the story is that some of the candidates are not definitely the people’s choice right from the beginning.
The resentment and protests of the irked candidates in the primaries has made it possible for some new calculations and permutations in the political landscape. I have had some discussions with a number of them across the board – and one thing keeps on featuring the possibility of merger and or alliances. This is also seen at the national level, as some irked aspirants have taken their cases to courts – rightly or wrongly.
The governorship primary election in the All Progressives Congress APC in Jigawa state is my central focus in this regard. Mallam Umar A Namadi has stood up as a shining model in both governance and Public Relations. He has a very good appreciation of the values and dignity of man with very good command for quality, virtues, and decency. He has done well to cement Jigawa state, as well as promoted the needs for communalism across the board.
He has set up a decorum mechanism to ensure steady growth and development of the state at various layers and times. He has set up indicators for measuring interpersonal relations amongst the people.
Thus, he is seen by many as a model per excellence. He tries much more to promote unity of purpose, creative collaboration and responsible judgement in all matters arising. Thus, he is seen as a pillar, backbone and shock absorber for the state’s stability.

Thus, the governorship primary in the APC was a hitch free exercise with zero complaints by stakeholders. Thus, it is now a deal between a gentleman and the good people of Jigawa state. A deal to make Jigawa state better and greater. A deal to ensure safety and security of the citizens, and a deal to protect their lives, properties and integrity.
These and many more Mallam Umar Namadi has pledged to uphold.
A gentleman is a polite, well-mannered man who treats others with honesty, respect and kindness. That is Mallam Umar Namadi.
A deal is thus, struck between us the people of Jigawa state, and indeed any person living in the state and far beyond that, the journey to a greater Jigawa will continue with vigor, inclusion and quality. It will provide the much-desired respect, integrity and good manners from a leader to his good people.
He is different more for these virtuous attributes that make him first amongst equals. Many politicians do not see themselves as the servants of the people rather the see themselves as the masters, who superintend in all matters whether palatable or otherwise. Many of them are high handed, pompous and corrupt to the core. They mostly believe they are the chosen children of God who have all the licenses to do and undo, with unapologetic vanity. They hide themselves from the people, only to make nocturnal reappearance when it is the elections season riding rough shots over the sensibilities of the common man.
Mallam Umar Namadi is a man of the people, with his people, standing for the people.
Jigawa state is very much lucky for having a man who prays for the well-being, peace and progress of the state not praying only for his personal interests or that of his family. Our leaders should borrow a leaf from him, and that will serve them a very good lesson.
A very good lesson indeed.
It is therefore a collective deal between the gentle and the good people of Jigawa state come 2027; and indeed beyond. He has consistently demonstrated resilience and strong mental acumen, thus the need to borrow a leaf from that to make Jigawa state the desired society in Nigeria and indeed in the world at large. The deal is sealed, and we pray for the best for him and Jigawa state of our pride and accomplished framework.
His detractors notwithstanding.
Let us pray.
