Sule Lamido and the message of peaceful coexistence

Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has explained why he chose to celebrate his 78th birthday with Nigerian youths rather than the political elite.
Lamido described youths as the backbone of any society, lamenting that Nigerian youths have been abandoned and relegated to politics of thuggery, hatred, disrespect, and mutual abuse.
According to him, youths who are supposed to be future leaders of the nation are confronted with lack of guidance, poor moral upbringing, poverty, unemployment, and hatred and these challenges must be addressed to secure a better future for Nigeria.
“I agreed to celebrate my birthday with youths because they have been abandoned. I feel Jigawa should be a building block for Nigeria’s future by restoring good character, integrity, and respect for one another among our youths,” Lamido said.
He added “As leaders, what have we prepared for our teeming youths who are the future of this nation? They need our guidance, good character, sound education, employment, respect for elders, and respect for one another. If youths are abandoned, there is no hope for the future.”
Lamido said the birthday lecture was part of leaders’ responsibility to awaken youths and encourage them to shun abuse, disrespect, and thuggery for the sake of the nation’s future.
The event was chaired by former Kaduna State Governor, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi. A lecture titled “Guiding Youths on Political Ideology for Building a New Niger” was delivered by Dr. Auwalu Anwar, and discussed by Prof. Kamilu Sani Fage, Dr. Akilu Sani Indabawa, and the ADC governorship candidate in Kano State, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil.
