The council, which will serve as the apex body for providing strategic direction, coordinating political engagement and overseeing campaign operations, will be chaired by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Hotpen reports that the revised list comprises veteran journalists, seasoned politicians, academics and technocrats of reputable integrity. The council will be inaugurated on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

The composition of the council is already attracting attention within political circles, particularly following the omission of Ibrahim Waiya, the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs.

Waiya’s absence from a committee expected to play a central role in shaping the party’s political communication, campaign messaging and public engagement has raised questions among observers about the criteria that informed the selection.
Given the strategic importance of information management in an election cycle, the omission is likely to generate further debate on the relationship between the state’s information machinery and the party’s campaign structure.
However, it remains unclear whether Waiya’s exclusion was a deliberate political decision, an administrative oversight, or based on the specific criteria adopted for the council. Neither should be assumed without official clarification.
As the APC begins preparations for the 2027 elections, the composition of its campaign leadership will remain a subject of political scrutiny. Beyond the personalities named, attention will focus on the council’s internal balance, distribution of responsibilities and the extent to which key stakeholders are represented.

For now, Waiya’s omission remains a notable feature of the announcement, raising the question the party may eventually need to address: Was his absence merely procedural, or does it carry broader political significance within the Kano APC?
The answer, if provided, could clarify the considerations behind the council’s composition and the party’s approach to managing its political and communication structures ahead of 2027.
