The exercise follows the establishment of the 13 LCDAs in addition to the existing 11 LGAs, bringing the total number of local administrative areas involved in the process to 24.
The committee is expected to ensure a transparent and orderly process for identifying, reconciling and allocating public assets and liabilities between the parent local governments and the newly created councils.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Barrister Sani Ahmed Haruna, disclosed this while addressing members of the committee during an engagement with the ministry.
Haruna commended Governor Yahaya for constituting the committee, describing the initiative as a critical step towards ensuring proper accountability and effective management of public resources following the creation of the new councils.
