Jigawa Deputy Speaker, Chief Whip, 8 Members Lose Bids to Return to State Assembly

HOTPEN – The Deputy speaker, Jigawa state House of Assembly, Hon. Suleiman Musa Kadira, Chief whip, Hon. Lawan Garba and 8 other members have lose bids to return to their seat in the just concluded state assembly APC primaries election.
Reports from the state assembly indicated that, barely less than 24 hours to the exercise three members voluntarily withdraw from the race and they include Hon. AbdulRahman Alkassim representing Yankwashi and Hon. Haladu Usman Killer representing Kanya Babba constituency, Hon. Kabiru Isah representing Babura constituency and Hon. Fagam representing Fagam constituency.
In a separate letters dated 24th and 26th May, 2022 sighted by HotPen and addressed to the state chairman of APC that was signed by member Representing Yankwashi and Kanya Babba constituencies, Hon. AbdulRahman Alkassim and Hon. Haladu Usman was also copied to the APC chairman, Yankwashi local government.
Investigation has revealed their decision to withdrew might not be unconnected with the lingering crises between the state legislatures and their council chairmen and other electorates in their respective claimes.
While the two state assembly members Hon. Usman Haladu and Hon. AbdulRahman Alkassim were at logger head with the state governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar where they exchanged words with the governor in public and in return it was said the governor pledged to decisively dealt with them and this was how it metamorphosed.
Hotpen reports that some aspirants were sponsored by wealthy individuals and some top government officials to purchase nomination forms for the state assembly in order to challenge the incumbent assembly members.
It was further learnt that the state assembly members have voluntarily withdraw from the race to avoid public embarrassment from delegates.
The Public Relations Officer, APC Jigawa State has confirmed the withdrawal of four members from the race even before the commencement of the party’s primaries.
