HOTPEN – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa has revealed that the commission is monitoring at least three serving State governors who have allegedly hoarded billions of Naira in their houses.
Bawa made this known while He was granting an interview to Daily Trust Newspaper.
The EFCC Boss added that, the governors are now planning to pay salaries in cash in order to get rid of the stashed Naira.
He noted during the interview that the commission’s raid on Bureau De Change operators would be sustained until the expiration of the Naira exchange exercise.
Bawa reiterated that, the decision by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to redesign the Naira is causing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to keep close watch on individuals, corporate bodies and organisations – including government officials.
The CBN says Nigerians can exchange their old currency to the newly redesigned on between 15th – 31st December, 2022.
