Muhammadu Sanusi II, the former Emir of Kano and leader of Nigeria’s Tijjaniyya believers, has warned Nigerians against blaming politicians over the country’s problems.
On Tuesday in Sokoto, Sanusi II made the statement while speaking to Tijjaniyya devotees from seven states in the Northwest geopolitical zone.
He expressed optimism that things will improve, and he advised people to be dedicated to their prayers and act in accordance with the law.
“From my own economic experience, I know that we must suffer in order to make things right.

“What is asked of us today is patience, sincere prayers, and we must rise up to improve things in our own manner through legal means.
“We must refrain from cursing or disparaging our leaders, as the Holy Prophet forbade it.
“We will not participate in corrupt acts or other crimes because our religion forbids them.
He said, “We must change for the better and remain devoted to the peace and development of our societies.”
Sanusi II also emphasized the Muslim Ummah’s oneness and encouraged Muslim organizations to develop schools and empowerment programs to help their followers become self-sufficient.

He emphasized that Islam forbids redundancy, begging, and other vices, but encourages caution and open dealings, which have resulted in the development of a good society.
The previous emir urged people to exercise their religious rights in conformity with Islamic teachings and to refrain from supporting matters that split the ummah, emphasizing the need of maintaining unity among Muslims.
Sanusi II also urged religious leaders to work with institutions and authorities to shape people’s attitudes, adding that the sect’s membership in Nigeria totaled more than 50 million and that adherents should contribute to political structures.
The event, according to him, was part of his purpose to personally meet believers and discuss issues affecting their plights in order to collaboratively give solutions and unite followers at all levels.
Prof. Abubakar Yagawal, the Sect’s leader in Sokoto state, earlier stated that the state had 1,400 Sect’s organizations (Zawiyya) and reaffirmed their commitment to the Sanusi II leadership.
