Gombe State governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya has bemoaned the immediate past Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo over N5 billion unfurnished multi-billion International Conference Centre (ICC) built during his tenure.
Hotpen reports that, the multi-billion-naira International Conference Center (ICC) was second of its kind apart from Abuja but was incidentally converted to Computer Training Center by the present administration of Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya.
Speaking at the townhall meeting held at the School of Nursing Gombe, Governor Inuwa was visibly angry stated that his administration needed over N500m to furnish the center with furniture despite the humongous amount of money spent on the building, criticized the immediate former Governor over some of his developmental projects which was not needed at the time of construction that involved billions of naira spent.
He said, If the International Conference Centre was taken through enquiry in an event such as this, there would not have been need for it, following the current security challenges the Centre of such magnitude may not be viable.
“The ICC to me is a waste of resource, we have a hall worth billions of naira while the whole North East political zone is faced with security challenges and you are citing a Conference facility that nobody will patronize because of security anxiety and the challenges associated with it”.
The Governor while justifying the recent N53.7 billion applied loans, explained that, the earnings would help the government to inaugurate and complete State Secretariat, Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park that would provide jobs to its teeming population as well as generate revenue for the state. He added.
