HOTPEN – About Seventy two Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists have surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in Dikwa council of Borno state.
The surrender of 72 repentant terrorists, followed their present situation of hunger with continuous bombardments of their hideouts in Sambisa Forest and the Lake Chad region.
A counter insurgency expert and analyst, Zagazola Makama, yesterday, in Maiduguri, stated that the terrorists repentant were received by troops of OPHK last Wednesday.
On the genuineness of the surrender, he noted that: “Some of them claimed that they are farmers and are being trapped in the enclaves of the terrorists,” noting that most of the repentant terrorists and their families are happy to be reintegrated into the liberated communities.
A top military intelligence officer also told The Guardian in Maiduguri that the repentant terrorists will be profiled, before handing them for rehabilitation and reintegration into communities.
