Thousands of PDP supporters have defected to the New Nigeria People’s Party in Gombe state.
The defectors many of whom were loyalists to Atiku staunch ally and PDP Gubernatorial aspirant in Gombe state, Alhaji Jamil Gwamna, were received by the NNPP governorship candidate, Alhaji Khamisu Mailantarki.
Speaking at the occasion, the chairman of the group, Mr Muhammad Makson said it was the leadership qualities of the NNPP governorship candidate and the desire to move Gombe state forward that informed their decision to defect to NNPP.
He expressed confidence that, Khamisu Mailantarki is the only candidate with the capacity to rescue the state from the current economic mess it has found itself in.
He noted that NNPP governorship candidate has proved to be the best due to his formidable track record.
Mr. Muhammad Makson assured the support of the entire members of the group towards the success of the party in the 2023 general elections.
Receiving the defectors, the Gombe state NNPP governorship candidate, Khamisu Mailantarki, assured the group that they would be carried along in all the activities of the party noting that their roles would be very critical given that the campaign had commenced in earnest.
He urged them to mobilise more people to join the party adding that it was through grassroots mobilisation that the NNPP can emerge victorious at the polls.
