Electronic collation of results was not mandatory – Prof. Mahmoud

According to Arise News, the chairman of the electoral commission, Yakubu Mahmoud, claimed that electronic collation of results was not mandatory.
They published this on their verified Twitter account, where they shared a photo of the INEC chairman and a portion of his speech on the issue of electronic results collation.
Remember that the electoral commission promised to transmit election results electronically but did not do so during the campaign.
The commission stated that there was network downtime, which caused electronic result transmission to fail.
The electoral commission, according to Arise News, believes that network downtime is the reason for not transmitting results electronically.
He said, “Presidential Election: INEC Says Electronic Collation of Results Not Mandatory, Insists It Acted According to Electoral Act This an indication of the legal line of argument it intends to canvass in its defense at the Presidential Election Tribunal.”
