The Nigeria security and civil defense corp, NSCDC, Zamfara state command has apprehended 9 people allegedly diverted 70 drums of chemical for water treatment which was donated by UNICEF to the state through RUWASA in the state.
This was made known by the state commandant of the corp Muhammad Bello Mu’azu at a press conference Thursday held at the command state headquarters in Gusau.
According to him, three other suspects people were at large, stressing that the command has declared them wanted .
According to him, 9 of the arrested suspects were granted bail by the command to face court verdict.
“The command had intercepted 70 drums of cemical for water treatment which was donated by UNICEF to contain cholera pandemic in the state and each drum cost N85, 000 from the suspects who were trying to diverted it to other state”. He said
“The command took the suspects to court for justice to prevail”. Said Mu’azu.
According to him, finding by the command revealed that some chemical worth millions of Naira was also diverted by the suspects to Kano and Katsina state.
The sum of N100,000 was among the exhibits recovered by the command from the suspects who tried to give to the operatives of the command during stop and search operation as bribe to allow them scale through with the cemical to outside the state.
