The Jigawa State Commander of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mu’azu Aliyu Danmusa has said no amount of intimidation, harassment or threat from any group of people or individual will deter the agency from executing it’s civic responsibilities.
Addressing journalists on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking held at the command headquarters in Dutse, Danmusa said men of the agency are undergoing series of threat and intimation ranging from assault and smashing of patrol vehicle while on duty, added that this will not scare the personnel from arresting drug dealers any where they are in the state.
According to the State Commander of the NDLEA explained that in it’s efforts to save the youths and the state from the evil act of drug dealers, the command have engaged in routine operations from June 2022-June 2023 which resulted in arrest and seizure of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substance.
He further stated that 999.335kgs of narcotics drugs was seized as exhibit with 422 number of suspects comprising 409 male and 12 female were arrested and total of 94 conviction and 186 counselled and 15 clients rehabilitated in addition to 4 clients serving in rehabilitation centre recorded during the year under review.
Danmusa noted that the command has embarked on War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) Sensitization campaign at motor parks and educational institutions across the state as part of the preventive measure against Drugs abuse and trafficking.
He commended the officers and men of the command for their resilience, professionalism and sacrifice in the discharge of their official duties.”Indeed members of the NDLEA Jigawa State Command are doing great in riding the state of the menace of drugs dealers, I therefore urged our officers and men to maintain the tempo.” Danmusa stressed.
