The Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme has settled outstanding pension debt for 746 pensioners worth over N2bn.
Executive Secretary of the scheme, Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu Musa stated this while briefing newsmen in his office shortly before the commencement of the exercise.
Kamilu explained that, over N1.7bn was paid as gratuity to 638 to state, local government and local education authority staff, added that over N212million naira was paid as death benefit to families of 78 workers.
The Executive Secretary further stated that, the scheme also paid over N26.8million to 29 families of pensioners as well as death pension balance.
According to him, over N500,000 was paid as refund of 8% contribution to one retired civil servant.
He further commended the beneficiaries, the state government for the support and cooperation given to the pension scheme as at when due.
