The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Zamfara State Chapter has accused the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress APC for it’s plan to make the government of Dr. Dauda Lawal ungovernable.
The state acting chairman of the PDP also the chief of staff of governor Dauda Lawal, Hon. Muktar Luggage made the allegation at a press conference in Gusau Tuesday.
According to him, the PDP has carefully orchestrated covert and unconventional operations aimed at truncating democratic tenets and attempting to influence the outcome of the judgement of the election tribunal in favour of the APC.
“In a widely recent circulated recorded conversation made available to PDP, a staunch supporter of the APC, Anas Anka, the Managing Editor of Thunder Blowers, an online TV station, openly boasted of how he was contracted by a chieftain of the APC, the former Governor of Zamfara State, Distinguished Senator Abdul’azeez Abubakar Yari”. Lugga stated
According to him, Senator Yari is reported to have been making plans to bribe and influence the members of the Zamfara State House Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against Zamfara governor Dauda Lawal in the audio clip made available to PDP in the state.
“The audio clip, revealed that Anas Anka was making damming allegations on the Judiciary, particularly the Judges of the elections tribunal who he unequivocally stated were induced to issue advanced judgement in favour of the APC, long before the day of the judgement is by the tribunal.” Luggaga hinted.
He pointed out that the PDP in the state would have dismissed the entire episode as a mere campaign of calumny that has become the hallmark of the local chapter of the APC but find it necessary to bring this issue to the notice of authorities in order to forestall the possibility of breakdown of law and order in the state.
His words, “We have instructed our lawyers to immediately file an appeal with the hope the Judiciary will seize the opportunity to correct any potential reason for miscarriage of justice that may have gone unnoticed.”
The PDP called on National Judicial Council (NJC) to order a full investigation on this allegation of foul play on the part of the Judges of the Tribunal as levelled against them by Anas sani Anka and also all other allegations as divulged on the audio tape.
The party also appealed to the DSS to invite the Editor in Chief of Thunder Blowers for questioning and retrieval of the yet to be announced judgements he claims to have in his possession on the outstanding cases of the Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections petitions currently at the Tribunal.
It also called on the former Governor of Zamfara and distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic representing Zamfara West to as a matter of urgency clear his name from the allegations of bribery, financial inducement and corruption levelled against him by Anas Anka.
“We demand an immediate investigation of the activities of Thunder Blowers and its sponsors and we are calling on the Inspector General of Police to order an investigation on Anas Sani Anka and Thunder Blowers”.
Luggaga stated that already the party had instructed State Assembly members to reconvene sitting immediately and consider instituting civil litigation against him for defamation of character and malicious intent.
Luggaga hinted that the Zamfara PDP Chapter is committed to promoting good governance in all tiers of government, calling on members and supporters to remain law abiding citizens and eschew any act of causing unrest in the state.
Reacting to the allegation made by PDP, the state publicity secretary of All Progressives Congress APC in Zamfara Yusuf Idris in a statement described it as a plan using an old friend to the governor Dauda Lawal Dare and a journalist, one Anas Sani Anka, Chief Executive officer of Thunder Blowers online media in the state to tarnish the good image of the APC in Zamfara and the nation.
According to him, Anas Sani Anka is not a card carrying member nor a good supporter of the APC in any way and so too, he is not an executive member of the party nor has he ever held a political appointment under the APC government thus, he couldn’t have in anyway speak on behalf of the APC.
“Moreso, Distinguished Senator Abdul Aziz Yari who Anas claimed to have collected money from has been out of the country for a long time now that the PDP will try to rub him in its mess.”
“We want to urge all relevant security apparatus at the nation’s disposal to uncover all those behind this cowardly act including the person that made the recording since they were all together to perpetrate what their pay masters in the PDP directed them to do with a view to bring them to book without further delay”. Yusuf said
