The Jigawa state house of assembly has suspended three council chairmen and directed local government service commission to immediately suspend council scribe, treasurer and Director Admin and General Services (DAGS) of Buji local government area of the state.
Hotpen reports that, the decision of the Honorable was adopted on Wednesday during it’s sitting barely one day after Governor Umar Namadi presented the 2024 appropriation bill to the house for deliberation.
The suspended council chairmen includes that of Gumel, Hon. Ahmed Rufai Sanusi, Yankwashi, Hon. Mubarak Ahmad and Birniwa, Hon. Umar Baffa they were suspended for not attending government functions include their absence during budget presentation and other complains laid by their electorates ranging from absentisims, lackadaisical attitudes in handling their people.
It was reported that at the time of filling in this reports, the three affected council chairmen have traveled out of the country without seeking permission from the ministry for local government.
The house has equally directed local government service commission to immediately suspend council scribe of Buji, Gadaffi Abba Umar Kukuma, the Treasurer, Gambo Umar and Director Admin and General Services (DAGS), Alhaji Mustapha Sadauki for alleged misappropriation with the council fund using their personal accounts in transaction instead of using local local government account.
The Chairman House committee on Local Government, Hon Aminu Zakari Tsubut described the action of the chairmen as insabordination, nonchalant attitude to the primary responsibility which ought to be investigated and punished according to the law.
Members representing Malam Madori constituency, Hon Usman Abdullahi Tura and Member representing Guri Hon Hamza Guri seconded the motion moved by Hon Tsubut.
The House unanimously approved for the suspension of the three local government chairmen and directed their vice chairmen to take over the affairs of the councils.
However the house constituted committee under the chairmanship of the Majority Leader of the house, Hon. Lawan Muhammad Dansure to investigate the matter and reported back to the house within 4 weeks for further action.
