The Commissioner for Local Government, Hon. Ahmed Garba MK assured the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) on the readiness of the Ministry, and the 27 Local Government Areas of Jigawa State on their support and cooperation for the success of the National VAT and Withholding Tax Monitoring Exercise.
The Commissioner made this statement while meeting the Jigawa State Delegation team of the Exercise at the conference Hall of the Ministry.
In a statement signed and made available to Hotpen by the Public Relation Officer of the Ministry, Najib Umar, said for the past one month, there has been series of discussions with the state coordinator of the Exercise on the conduct of the program, and the ministry is ever ready to give all the maximum cooperations, because one of key responsibilities of governance is to maintain and ensured righteousness in it’s spans.
The Commissioner boldly drawn the attention of the key Local Governments concerned officers on the danger associated with the tax avoidance, which he said must no longer be tolerated under his stewardship. “Henceforth, new moderlities would be designed to ensure tax collection from the Local Governments”. He stressed.
According to the Commissioner, the present administration of Governor Umar A. Namadi is always ready to operate through the guided transparency, accountability as well as due process, and called on the Local Governments concerned with the excersice to accord the delegation maximum cooperation for the successful conduct of the program.
Earlier speaking, the State Monitor and Leaders of the delegation from Tax Collection Agency, Alh. Rilwanu Musa gave the reason why they visited the Ministry for the conduct of the exercise, which is a national program, and it is being conducted in all the 36 states of the federation.
He thanked the commissioner for his fatherly intervention and promised to cooperate with the Local Governments for the success of the excercise.
The meeting was also attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Ibrahim Adamu Kakas, the Director Local Government Inspection, Muhammad Yusha’u Jaji among others.
