The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Yobe State council has sworn-in the council’s executives, to run the affairs of the union for the next three years. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the council’s secretariat along Gashu’a road, Damaturu the state capital.
Speaking at the occasion, the chairman electoral committee, Ahmed Isa Abba the chairman correspondents chapel stated that all the EXCOs were with no opposition, as they were the only ones who bought the form.
The Chairman electoral Committee said that, each of them got 230 votes by the members of the council. Malam Ahmed revealed that the office of the Financial Secretary is still vacant, no body buy the form therefore election should be conducted after the swearing-in of the new EXCOs.
He disclosed that six officials emerged victorious as follows: Rajab Mohammed Ismail as Chairman, Usman Mohammed Nasoro as vice Chairman, Alhassan Sule Mamudo as Secretary, Babayo Wakili as Assistant Secretary, Baba Shehu Mohammed as Treasurer and Murjanatu Hamisu Yelwa as Auditor. Malam Ahmed Isa Abba commended members of the NUJ for displaying high sense of maturity.
After they were sworn-in by the Commissioner of oath, Barrister Abdulrahman Mohammed Karage, the state chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists Yobe State Council, Comrade Alhaji Rajab Mohammed Ismail delivered his address, whom commended the state Governor, Mai Mala Buni, Ciroman Gujba for his untiring support to Journalists in the state.
He said journalists will continue to report the sustained progress the state government is recording. He called on media practitioners to do their job effectively, efficiently and professionally.
The particular occasion was attended by the General Manager YBC Alhaji Musa Galadima, The Genaral Manager Of Yobe Television, Comrade Yusuf Isa, General, former General Manager Yobe Printing Cooperation, Comrade Gambo Dahiru, Commissioner of the Ministry of Information and Culture, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, represented by his permanent Secretary, Alhaji Modu,
Others among the dignitaries are, the Ag, Director information, Ministry of Information, Ali Musa Yawale and Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) Dungus Abdulkareem. Others are SSA to the Governor on Digital Communication, Yusuf Ali, chairmen and Secretaries of various chapels respectively.
