Kano state Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has made a passionate appeal to the wealthy and illustrious sons and daughters of the state to come and join hands with the state government to execute meaningful projects that will impact positively on the lives of it’s teeming populace.
Governor Yusuf made the appeal during a special New Year live programme in his office.
Even though, the Governor didn’t mentioned names but apparently said to be referring to the people Aliko Dangote, Abdussamad Isiyaku Rabiu (owner of BUA Groups) among others who are illustrious sons of the state.
In a statement by the Director Public Enlightenment, Kano Government House, Aliyu Yusuf, the Governor was quoted saying the state is blessed with large number of wealthy individuals and industrialists whose input can contribute in no small measure in the betterment of the lives of people in the state.
According to him, “the government has well articulated initiatives like, Education Trust Fund, Security Trust Fund and Social Trust Fund, contributions from such folk of the society can assist the government in the realization of those initiatives.
“An example of other parts of the country where their well to do individuals have made it a habit, execution of various projects and programmes to their societies.
“When I came to office I was expecting such business moguls to approach us with selfless contributions that can be justifiably used in executing projects aimed at improving the lives of the citizenry but to no avail.
“I want use this opportunity to passionately appeal to them to emulate their counterparts from other parts of the country by lending their supporting hands in making our state a better place for our teaming populace,” Governor Yusuf stated.
