The Yobe State Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture has on Tuesday the 2nd of January 2024 handed over 17 portable Public Address Systems provided by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) through the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to Comunity Development Officers (CDOs) of the 17 local government councils in the state.
In a press released signed by Suleiman Gambo Yusuf Bakoro Desk officer Online and community Media, Yobe State ministry of home affairs ministry of information and Culture made available to our reporter said that, the portable public address systems were handed over to the Commissioner, Ministry For Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Adamu Jajere who was represented by the Director, Local Government Affairs of the Ministry, Alhaji Garba Saleh Kayeri where he later presented it to the 17 local government areas community development officers (CDOs).
The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Hon. Abdullahi Bego who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry at the brief ceremony which took place at the premises of the Ministry, Alhaji Modu Gashua said, “the public address systems were donated to the Yobe state government by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in order to assist the local government community development officers in carrying out their sensitization work and other activities in the local communities across the 17 local government areas in the state.”
According to the commissioner, the community development officers have undergone a two day training in Abuja organized by JICA as part of efforts to build their capacity to enable them perform optimally especially in educating, enlightening and sensitizing their communities on issues of public interest.
The commissioner urged them to make judicious use of the public address systems and assured them of the continuous support of the Yobe state government under the purposeful leadership of governor Mai Mala Buni.
Responding shortly after receiving the systems behalf of the 17 LGA community development officers (CDOs), Bulama Jalaludin, a community development officer from Tarmuwa local government area thanked the Yobe State Ministry of Home Affairs, information and Culture for its support and encouragement. They pledged to make use of the public address systems judiciously.
