Saturday 6th January, 2024 will forever be remembered as part of the historical feat, whereby it hosted FCT City Abuja in sporting antecedent in the Jigawa state capital Dutse.
The match between the duo started at exactly 3pm with the hosting team Jigawa Golden Star defeating the visiting FC City Abuja with 1-0 in the first half of the game.
Hotpen reports that, this is the first time a football match was held at the newly constructed mini stadium Dutse, Jigawa state, all other matches are been played outside the state capital, including Kazaure, Hadejia and Gumel.
Speaking shortly after the match, Jigawa state governor, Mal. Umar Namadi ably represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alh. Bala Ibrahim Mamser commended the team for the job well done and assured them of government continued support to encourage them.
He said: “The governor had wanted to be present but due to some unforseen circumstances beyond his control but assured his commitment to boost sporting activities as well as encourage the players to play primeir league”.
According to the SSG, “We have a very friendly governor who is serious about sport and other sectors, he is willing and ready to support you as at when due”.
Also speaking, Chairman of Jigawa Football Association, Sabo Abdullahi Eka commended the Governor Namadi for his timely support to Jigawa Golden Star. He also applauded the good cordial relationship between government and the club, as he assured that they will justify the confidence reposed on them.
Sabo Eka also expressed optimism on the performance of the Jigawa Golden Star both at home and away, saying the support given to them by Governor Namadi has helped them in sustaining their stand at all the time.
