The spokesman for Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, Mallam Isa Gusau, has breathed his last at an Indian hospital on Thursday.
Mr Isa Gusau, who was also the spokesman for the present Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, when he was the governor of Borno State, has been on admission at one of the Indian hospital for over a month now, battling for his life.
He took the final bow in a specialist hospital in New Delhi after a protracted illness, according to a source who would not like to be quoted.
The source said: “We have lost Gusau to the cold hands of death; he was unconscious for about three days. We were all praying for his recovery, but it was quite unfortunate that we lost him in the hospital in New Delhi, India.”
Isa was said to be actively involved in the publicity of the governor right from his sick bed in India, issuing statements to promote his boss as usual.
There is yet no official confirmation of his death, but social media is abuzz with news of his demise since yesterday.
It is not yet clear when his corpse will be brought home for interment.
