Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has called on his opponent Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna to join him in developing Kano state, following the Friday Supreme Court judgement that affirmed the governor’s election.
Daily News 24 reports that Mr Yusuf made the offer while speaking to newsmen at the premises of the apex court in Abuja.
“As a true democrat and progressive, I call on my opponent Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna and his supporters to join hands with me in the efforts to develop our dear state Kano for the betterment of its teaming citizens,” the governor said.
“People of Kano need leaders with vision, passion, zeal, and commitment of initiating projects, policies and programmes that have direct bearing to their lives in all facets and across nooks and crannies of the state,” he added.
Governor Yusuf also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima for “resisting pressure to interfere in the Supreme Court judgement”.
He also appreciated NNPP leaders at all levels and particularly the leader of Kwankwasiyya movement, Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso for his guidance and support during the trying period.
Mr Yusuf’s opponent, Mr Gawuna had earlier said he had accepted the apex court’s judgement as the will of God.
