Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has established the Kano Elders Council (KEC) to serve as an advisory body to the government of the State.
Gov. Yusuf announced this in Abuja on Saturday while addressing journalists in Abuja.
SOLACEBASE reports that members of the council include former Governors, Deputy Governors, Senate Presidents (If any), Speakers of the House of Representatives, Speakers of the State House of Assembly, Deputy Speakers, retired Supreme Court justices, retired Appeal Court justices, former Chief Judges of the state, former Secretaries to the State Government, and former Heads of State Civil Service, who are all indigenes of the state.
Also, the council includes the leadership of the Ulamas, the Business Community, the traditional rulers, former heads of security agencies from Kano State, and other distinguished elders to be identified and appointed by the government.
With this, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Ibrahim Shekarau, and Abdullahi Umar Ganduje are automatically members of the council.
The governor reiterated his commitment to continue running an open government to carry everyone along, in the new drive of a modern Kano.
