Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi has reaffirmed commitment to WIkki Tourists Football Club (FC), the state owned club as a priority in his administration in the state.
Mohammed made the commitment when the Interim Management Committee of the club and Ministry of Youths and Sports paid him a congratulatory visit over his victory at the supreme Court on Tuesday in Bauchi.
He reassured his total support to the football club to excel and go professional in his administration.
The Governor added that Wikki Tourists FC remained one of his top priority areas and will continue to remain so.
He commended the performance of the club at the ongoing 2023/24 Nigeria National League (NNL), pledged to ensure that it gained promotion back to the premier league.
“The former management failed me as they allowed the club to be relegated, hence my decision to instruct the Commissioner to bring in sound management and I’m happy now they are doing well” he said.
Earlier, Commissioner for Youths and Sports Mr Mohammed Salis said the visit was to Congratulate the Governor on his recent victory at the Supreme Court.
Salis said his Ministry will forever remain grateful to the Governor for his unwavering support towards its programmes, with a promise to justify the confidence reposed on them.
Also Speaking, A member of the Interim Management Committee Mr Umar Sa’idu appreciated the Governor for providing all the necessary support and atmosphere to operate and giving the club a priority.
“We are therefore dedicating the 3-0 victory over the visiting ABS FC to the Governor on his supreme court victory.
“The management also pledged the players commitment to work harder until the club return to premier league,” he said.
