Jigawa state governor, Umar Namadi on Wednesday paid glowing tribute to late Daily Sun newspaper Correspondent in Dutse, Ahmad Abubakar as a journalist per excellence.
Namadi who hosted senior Journalists from Kano who were on a thank you visit to appreciate the governor over a House he in appreciation for acquired for late journalist immediate family said he was devastated by his demise.
Namadi had during late Abubakar one year anniversary last year promised to acquired a befitting house for his family in Dutse.
The governor said “late Ahmad Abubakar was a gentle man who died in active service, and certainly deserved our support”.
He stressed “I’m touched by his death, late Ahmad Abubakar worked and died in active service at a point we need him most.
Namadi said “As a Muslim, we are conscious of the fact that every soul is living to die at it appointed time”.
He said “whatever assistance we rendered to his immediate family is just a step to help ourselves, what’s left is to continue to identify with him in prayers as we beseech Allah to grant his soul eternal rest”.
In a speech earlier, Leader of the Kano team, Lamara Garba Azare told the governor that his gesture was an honour to global journalists.
Azare said “We thank you for the honour, and we shall continue to remain eternally grateful for the assistance.”
