Hafiz Kawu, former House of Rep member, Tarauni Federal Constituency, has ensured the completion of a road worth N2.6 billion despite losing reelection.
The former federal lawmaker secured the constituency project through the Federal Ministry of Works while serving his constituents at the Green chamber.
Activities on the 3 kilometers road in Kano metropolis that linked Court Road, Karkasara Quarters, Darmanawa, and ends at Naibawa Yankatako by Zaria Road stopped immediately after Kawu left the Green Chamber, following his defeat in the February 2023 general elections to NNPP’s Mukhtar Yarima.
Daily INDEPENDENT learnt that despite electoral, Mr Hafiz had ensured the contractors return to site and work is ongoing and it nearing completion.
In a telephone chat with Reporters in Kano on Tuesday, the former lawmaker said the project at the moment has recorded more than 90% completion.
According to him, despite leaving the House of Representatives, he still pursued to ensure the project was 100 percent completed for the benefit of his constituents.
“Even though I am not a member now, that will not stop me from contributing to the development of my constituency,” he said.
“I facilitated this constituency project during my time as member, and even when I am no longer at the house, I did not rest on my ores until I saw the completion of this giant project.
“I am happy it is at more than 90% completion level. I commend the Ministry of Works for this kind gesture.
“I also assure the good people of Tarauni Federal Constituency of my resolve and commitment to their development even when I am out of office. It is my constituency and proud of it,” he added.
He further disclosed that the road project had been completed at Court Road to Karkasara, Darmanawa, and Naibawa Yankatako, while one lane of Court Road to AKTH Junction had been completed, as the work is ongoing on the other lane.
