The Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology Wudil says it has introduced of the on campus job opportunities for students with the aimed at helping them to cater for their studies, pay for registrations and other needs.
The creations of the on Campus Jobs, has helped greatly in tackling likely hood of cultism among students and also takes care of students protest’s and other social vices in the Institution.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai disclosed this while briefing journalist on his achievements in the last one year on his assumption in to office.
He said the University management under his stewardship created an avenue for engaging indigene students on small menial job opportunities in the campus to support their financial demands.
Professor Musa Yakasai explained that the University had embarked on total renovation of the female hostels aimed at ensuring a healthy and decent accommodation for students
“We have renovated all the toilet facilities in the hostels and have decongested the rooms by providing more buildings which have been renovated and converted to hostel accommodation.
“We make sure that each room of the female hostels contained only six people so that they will have a conducive atmosphere for learning, so also we provided 91,000 litres reservoir of water incase of electricity failure in the female hostels .
The Vice Chancellor maintained that state of art of facilities have been provided in the modern University Library geared towards enhancing effective learning process.
He noted that modern solar electricity lightening has been provided in all parts of the University environment to ensure the security and safety of both the staff and students.
Professor Yakasai noted that his administration has introduced additional techniques for Internal Revenue generation drive apart from registration fees.
“The University has equally designed a module on how to improve the University’s revenue generation drive, we are planning to make use of 17 hectares of unutilized land belonging to the University at Gaya for irrigation and mechanized farming, which will enhanced our revenue generation drive”
“We formed a consultancy services unit, which will be used for offering consultancy services to the general populace and also at the same time generating Revenue for the institution.
The Vice Chancellor added that the University accorded much priority in the entrepreneurship courses aimed at building the capacity of the students on skills acquisition, so that they can become self employed
He added that under his tenure in the last one year he created 28 Central Research Laboratory and the procurement of ultramodern laboratory machines, equipment and consumables; refurbishment of laboratory facilities and resources, and renovation and creation of more units at the centre worth billions of Naira, adding “we have appointed more Directors and Deputy Directors to Maned various Directorate of the Institution.
