Following the emergency meeting of the State executive council, held Thursday at the Council chamber of the Government House Bauchi, it approved the provision of Roadmap for the development of acquaculture and dry season farming at Gubi Dam of Ganjuwa Local Government and other available dams around the state, aimed to address hunger and poverty among citizens of the state.
This was disclosed by the state Commissioner of Budget and Economic Development, Alh. Aminu Hamayo while briefing journalists on the outcome of the council meeting shortly after long hours of delabration.
The Commissioner who expressed the councils satisfaction with the state budget performance within the last five years, explained that budget implementation performance is a key to measure the political will and commitment of the government towards provision of basic amenities to the citizens.
He added that the implementation of the budget from 2019 to 2023 has increased drastically with over 80% performance, also that it is a requirement of the Nigerian Governors forum for proper financial planning and implementation.
The state Commissioner of Education Jamila Dahiru, at the press briefing explained that the council was satisfied with the level of renovations undertaken at the Special Education Center Yelwa.
Revealing that the council had approved for the provision of all required tools and facilities for learning of students with special needs for inclusive education.
On the issue of food scarcity and hunger, The state commissioner of Agriculture and Rural development, Professor Simon Yalams confirmed that the council have resolved to constitutes a Committee which will gather inputs from professionals and make recommendations to government towards addressing food insecurity in the state, saying especially now that there is hunger and anger among people that need quick concern by Government.
Also the State Commissioner of Land and survey, Amina Katagum, said the council had approved increase on land rent so as to improve the revenue of the State for effective running of Government towards providing devidend of democracy to the citizens.
She said the increase was made in such away that would not injure the people, considering the hardship everyone is facing today.
