Zamfara state government has enjoined tax payers on the need to ensure prompt payment for their tax to enable it utilize and provide basic infrastructural development in the state.
The information officer Zamfara state internal revenue service Sanusi Ibrahim in a statement said the chairperson, Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service, Hajia Rakiya Ahmed Dodo made the call during a Hausa weekly phone-in programme being sponsored by the state Internal revenue service in Zamfara State Radio.
She described tax mobilization as a bedrock for the development of the state and betterment of the citizens through provisions of infrastructural development in the state.
Hajia Rakiya Ahmed Dodo who was represented by the Service Director, Direct Assessment Department, Hajia Aisha Aliyu Shu’aibu Kotorkoshi, said construction of hospitals, schools and roads by government could not be possible without of revenue mobilization.
“Taxes are levied in almost every country of the world primarily to raise revenue for government expenditures and other purposes as well”.
“I am appealing to people in the state especially Tax payers to support the state government by paying their taxes as scheduled to enable it deliver essential public services particularly in the areas of provisions of social amenities that have direct bearing to citizens of the state”. She contended.
Hajia Rakiya then drew the attention of the Tax payers on the benefit attached to the revenue generation being it the ingredient the government uses in running the cost of governance, infrastructural development and achieving certain economic goals.
She also explained fully on other units of the department which includes, Direct assessment, Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC), and Pay as you earn (PAYE) among others.
In attendance during the programme were, Director Information and Intelligence gathering Department, Alhaji Aminu Adamu Ibrahim, Deputy Director, Direct Assessment Department, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello Ruwan Doruwa, Assistant Director, Alhaji Rilwanu Hassan, Alhaji Lawal Ibrahim (Assessment) and Alhaji Kamaluddeen Muhammad (TCC).
