The Director, Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Shehu Sambo has stressed the need for more awareness and enlightenment on family planning in Jigawa state.
Dr. Sambo stated this during a three days media engagement on family planning organized and implemented by an intentional organization Development Communication (DevCom) said there is only 3.6 percent contraceptive prevalence rate CPR in the state.
The Director advised parents to plan for their families with a view to enhancing the wellbeing of children. “Parents should imbibed culture of child spacing for sustainable and economic growth of their life plans’. He added.
The programme is TCI project (The Challenge Initiative) sponsored by the Bill and Melinda foundation was focused on family planning and child spacing for the betterment of the family wellbeing.
The Programme Manager of TCI, Mr. Ankale Kongude said the challenge initiative is a platform that enables state government to scale up high-impact family planning approaches for the urban dwellers.
He explained further that TCI represents a highly innovative approach to development aids intended to strengthens the understanding of scale, impact, efficiency, and sustainability.
Kongude added that TCI’s goal is to support state governments to achieve greater self reliance to scale up family planning and AYSRH high-impact interventions leading to sustained improvements in urban health systems and increased use of modern contraception, especially among the urban dwellers.
