The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) will construct a brand new central library worth N500million at the Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed stated this at the Pre-convocation Press briefing, said the project will be executed by TetFund and will be completed in one and a half year, added that the construction of the library when completed will accommodate all the information resources contained as well as other available electronic resources.
Prof. Abdulkarim explained that presently the library in the university has over 7000 books and over 500,000 e-Resources and 1000 journals in different fields, noted that the US government has established an American Window for the university to provide wide range of library services and access to literature and research data for staff and students.
The Vice Chancellor further stated that, “we have installed servers and more than 150 new computers in the library for students to have access on electronic information resources in form of e-book and e-journals both on and offline”.
Said he:-“The construction of a N500m brand-new central library at the Federal University Dutse Jigawa State is underway by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), the project is quite commendable, we are proud with the development and grateful with the kind gesture”.
Hotpen reports that, Federal University Dutse will hold its 6th and 7th combined convocation and the investiture of the 2nd Chancellor of the University, His Majesty, King W.S. Joshua Igbugburu X, CON, JP, the Ebenanawei of Borno Kingdom and the pioneer Chairman of tge Bayelsa state traditional council on Saturday 24th February, 2024.
At the combined ceremonies, immediately after investiture , the Chancellor will preside over the award of degrees, postgraduate diploma and prizes to all the graduants and those that have won prizes.
It is expected that a total number of 1058 will be graduated from 4 faculties namely Agriculture, Art and Social Science, Computing and Sciences for the 2019/2020 academic session 38 students first class, 321 second class upper, 564 with second class lower and 135 graduating with third class.
While for 2020/2021 session a total number of 1,814 will be graduated in the four faculties 36 students first class, 515 second class upper, 946 with second class lower and 317 graduating with third class respectively.
