Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi conducted its 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th Combined convocation ceremony.
The events took place in Bauchi which begun with press conference between 19th February to 24th February, 2024 by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Muhammad Ahmad Abdulazeez.
Earlier the Vice Chancellor expressed the success of the exercise determined by the co-operation from all stake holders in the educational sector, the media was among them. That is why he invited them to brief on the activities lined up for the ceremony from beginning to end, to inform Nigerians about the occasion as well as urged to report the activities for the benefit of humanity.
The combined convocation ceremony was conducted on Thursday, 22nd February, 2024 with the commissioning of 19 different projects completed in the last four years.
The projects are spread in both Gubi and Yelwa campuses. While they invited number of dignitaries and commissioned the projects. These includes the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Katsina State, His Excellency, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, the Honourable Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, the Honourable Minister of Health, Dr Ali Pate and all the three distinguished Senators representing Bauchi state.
On Friday, 23rd February, 2024, the convocation Lecture delivered by 4:00 pm at the 1000 seat capacity lecture theater at Yelwa Campus. A Professor of Media studies, Umar Pate, delivered the lecture with the topic, “Education and Nigeria’s National Integration in the Digital Age: Matters Arising”.
The lecture simultaneously held along with exhibition from various departments of the University at the same venue and show-case some of the break-through in research and fabrications.
The third day of the ceremony held at the convocation square of the University in Gubi campus, which featured the graduation of four sets of graduants.
The graduated first set of 25 Medical Doctors from the University school of medical sciences.
Also graduated a combined total number of 19, 252 students. Breakdown of all graduands are as follows.
The students breakdown are, 404 Diploma graduates, 15, 460, Undergraduates.
Post graduate Diploma students are 1, 653.
Graduated 1559 Masters and 176 PhD students. Which brought the total of 19, 252 1st degree convocants.
Meawhile, a breakdown shows the classes of degrees obtained by the combined graduands are 1st Class 337 students, 2nd Class Upper 5489, 2nd Class Lower 7241, 3rd Class 1867 and Pass students are 526, which brought total number to 15, 460.
The University Senate has approved the award of honourary Doctorate degrees to five distinguished Nigerians honoured on the convocation day.
