The Jigawa state police command has apprehended five yahoo fraudsters in Dutse, the Jigawa state capital.
Addressing newsmen on the achievements recorded by the command, the Commissioner of Police, CP A. T. Abdullahi Psc, said operatives attached to Dutse Division, acting on credible and actionable Intelligence stormed at a house in Yalwawa Quarters, Dutse, where they successfully arrested the following suspects:-
Henry Chilaka ‘M’ 28yrs of Mbeise LGA Imo State, Solomon Ubah ‘M’ 26yrs, Bright Enyeazu ‘M’ 19yrs, Chigozie Duru ‘M’ 19yrs and Solomon Uchezie ‘M’ 17yrs all Of Abia State and residing at Yalwawa Quarters in the state capital Dutse.
The Suspects were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Dutse for discreet investigation, on interrogation, the suspects confessed to belong to Yahoo syndicate setting up a base in the state capital, Dutse.
The CP added that, the suspects equally confessed that, It was one Charles Chiemala ‘M’ now at large that rented the house, brought them to the state, and introduced them to the business. After thoroughly search was conducted in the house, Five (5) Laptop Computers, Five (5) Handsets, A Generator, Two (2) Inverter Batteries, Six (6) Big Solar Panel Battery Terminals, Two (2) Mattresses, and household items were recovered.
The suspects according to the CP will be charged to court for prosecution, and have been remanded to police custody while investigation continues. The sum of two hundred and thirty thousand (₦230,000.00k) was recovered from the suspect and taken into custody as exhibit.
Meanwhile, the state police command has through It’s Detectives personnel from State Criminal Investigation Department Dutse (SCID), arrested one Samuel Shegun ‘M’ Age 32yrs of opposite Awajil filling station Dutse, in connection with the case of brutal killing of his mother, Esther Adekanla ‘F’ of the same address.
The suspect was arrested via tracking of the deceased’s phone number, which linked him to the offence.
Hotpen reports that, it was on 15/02/2024, police discovered the news of a famous restaurant owner, Esther Adekanya popularly known as Hadiza Nakowa and her 11 year housemaid, Christian Micheal.
On interrogation, the suspect, Samuel revealed that, on 12/02/2024 at about 2200hrs, his mother returned back from her restaurant and quarrel broke with the young girl, Christiana Michael to the extent that she held a knife.
He explained that, his effort to rescue the Girl, he dragged her back when they all fell, she cut herself on the neck with the said knife.
Samuel added that when he realized the gravity of the offence committed and he didn’t want to be called by the security operatives, he decided to steal his mother’s phones, locked the house and move far away from the area.
The little girl, who is recuperating from various injuries sustained, is still under medical care and responding to treatment, while the corpse of Samuel’s mother, Esther Adekanya was taken to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
The CP urged the good people of Jigawa State to remain calm, upholding law and order as well as to report in time any suspicious movement of persons/objects to the nearest security outlet, pleaded with them to continue providing useful information to aid the command in the fight against crime and criminalities.
CP A T Abdullahi applauded the sacrifice, resilience, and dedication of officers and men of the command and urged them to sustain the tempo with a view to moving the command forward.
