Munyal Kwairanga, a 13-year-old gymnastics prodigy from Gombe State, is making waves in the world of sports as she sets her sights on representing Nigeria in the upcoming International Gymnastics Championship in Singapore.
With an impressive track record including a fourth-place finish at the 2022 National Sports Festival in Asaba and a stellar performance at the Northeast Zonal Gymnastics Championships in Bauchi, Munyal is determined to pursue her dreams of international glory.
Reflecting on her journey so far, Munyal expressed gratitude to her parents for their unwavering support. “I am grateful to my parents for their continuous support,” she stated. “Now, it is time to seek government assistance to help me achieve my dreams.”
With her eyes set on the Singaporean tournament and aspirations for the 2028 Olympics, Munyal is focused on honing her skills and representing her state and country with pride.
“I know that I still have a lot to learn, and I will continue improving,” she remarked. “I am looking forward to the International Gymnastic Championship in Singapore in May 2024, and I am determined to excel.”
However, Munyal acknowledged the financial strain her training puts on her family and hopes for support from Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya.
“I know how difficult it is for my parents financially to be supporting me,” she explained.
“I would like to use this opportunity to appeal to Governor Inuwa Yahaya to help me realize my dream by providing scholarships or any form of assistance.”
Munyal remains hopeful that with the backing of her community and government, she will be able to fulfil her aspirations of representing Nigeria in international gymnastics competitions, including the 2028 Olympics.
Munyal’s determination and talent have already made her a role model for young athletes in Gombe State and beyond. As she continues to pursue her dreams, she serves as an inspiration to aspiring gymnasts and athletes across Nigeria.
