Kano state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf on Thursday tasked Faith based leaders to speak truth to power at any point of time for political leaders to stay within their limit.
Abba Kabir Yusuf who hosted Islamic Clerics for a special meeting at the Government House in Kano on Thursday afternoon said “call me to order whenever I erred to enable me stay within limit, but be kind to do the needful whenever I did the right things.”
Yusuf who extol the influence of religious leaders in a multi cultural society urged them to situate their sermon on moral decadence for the healthy growth of the society.
He stressed “In the past Imam hardly speak on political issues during sermons, their sermons usually centred on Islam, and certainly unheard off for any of them to speak I’ll of political leaders talk less of open insult. Politics is different from Islam.”
The governor revealed that Kano has over 22 million, and out of this figure, 65 percent are youth, unfortunately most of them are into drugs, and criminality. Clerics have to speak up on these issues, and if this sustained, we will get a change in their behavioural pattern, and this will help to self discovery.
He however assured that his administration intended to empower the youths, sponsors their education to ensure they a better life.
Yusuf said “Drug peddlers among us should be held responsible for our situation, and we are ready to fight them to finish, we will comb them in the market , and wherever they are selling illicit drugs and I will be in the forefront.
He disclosed that “security agents have couple of days ago apprehended several truck conveying illicit drugs to this city, and very soon we are going to destroy it”.
Yusuf commended intersecurity synergy that has made the city safe, and therefore urged them to sustained the tempo.
The governor revealed that “In some weeks ahead, we are going to launch Security Trust Fund to boost our security.”
Gov Abba Kabir Yusuf promised to institute monthly stipends to chief Imam of Friday Mosque across the state, as he assured them such monies would be paid directly to your account to prevent anyone from tampering with it.
