The Zamfara state former governor and Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has held a meeting with the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) Director, Mrs. Hen Cohn.
Ahmad Dan-Wudil Personal Assistant (Media) to the Minister of State for Defence has said in a statement made available to Hotpen in Gusau.
According to him, the meeting was aimed at discussing a potential partnership between the Ministry of Defence and UNMAS to establish a mine action center in Maiduguri, with the primary objective of providing support to the north-east region.
“Both parties expressed their commitment to working together to achieve their shared goals, and explored various avenues for collaboration between UNMAS and the military”. The statement reads in part.
The statement stated that the meeting was also attended by key UNMAS officials, including Mr. Takuto Kubo, Chief of Planning, Program, and Management, Chief Mine actions Programme, UNMAS, Mr. Edwin Faigmane, and Mr. Emeka Nwadike, Program Officer of UNMAS Nigeria.
